So recently I found out the Atari Jaguar is in the public domain thanks to Hasbro (When they used to own Atari) releasing the patents into the public domain by 2006 I think. However, I wonder if this also applies to every single game made on the Jaguar and Jaguar CD, and by extension the few third party games made on it and more specifically Rayman.
Now I know Rayman is a trademark of Ubisoft, but since his first game was originally made on the Jaguar and if that one happens to be public domain, then does that make Rayman public domain?
If it doesn't, then what about the original prototype for the game on the Super Nintendo? Is that one public domain, and therefore the earliest incarnation of Rayman public domain?
If anyone knows anything about which Jaguar games are public domain, or the status of this SNES prototype or anything related to law, copyright and public domain stuff, mind giving me some answers in the replies? This was mostly all in my mind last night (I say mostly since I have Donkey Kong Bananza and that is one heck of a game if you know). I'd also appreciate it if some people wanted to ask this on the Public Domain subreddit.
