Bambi Meets Godzilla is a 1969 animated short film, created entirely by Marv Newland. He had wrote, directed, edited, produced, and done the animation entirely by himself. It is less than two minutes long, and uses Felix Salten's Bambi and Toho's Godzilla without permission. The short is an early example of a fan film for both Bambi and Godzilla. It has also spawned numerous sequels (none of which have entered the Public Domain). These include; Bambi's Revenge in 1976, Son of Bambi meets Godzilla in 1999, and two remakes in 2013 and 2015. The last one is in live action.
Plot[]
Bambi is shown grazing in a small flower field as the opening credits scroll, with every single credit being for Marv Newland. Once the credits are finally over, Godzilla's crudely drawn foot suddenly crushes Bambi. The film then acknowledges the city of Tokyo for their help in obtaining Godzilla for this project.
