Origin[]
The beach chair is a seemingly timid creature who, while placed on a beach unused, walks up to the water, dips its toes in, and ultimately decides it'd be best not to take a swim.
Copyright[]
- Beach Chair was released without a copyright notice and not registered within 5 years, making it public domain under 1980s-era copyright law.
- Beach Chair was an early test for CGI water animation, and was exhibited at SIGGRAPH alongside two other Pixar films: Flags & Waves, which is also public domain but features no discernable characters, and Luxo Jr., a now-iconic film that introduced Pixar's long-lasting mascot - Luxo Jr. had a copyright notice, and therefore remains copyrighted.
