Chicken Little 1 2

Chicken Little (alternately Henny Penny) is a European folktale, an early version of which was recorded by Just Mathias Thiele in 1823.

Summary[]

Once upon a time, in an ordinary farm, there was a chick named Chicken Little. One day when she was out in the garden, an acorn fell on her head. Upon this event, she jumped to the logical conclusion that the sky must be falling, and set out to warn everyone.

The number of characters she warns varies from version to version. She first went to Henny Penny, then they went to Ducky Lucky, then to Goosey Loosey, then Turkey Lurkey. Each believed Chicken Little without question, and flew into a panic along with her.

Then they went to Foxy Loxy. Upon hearing Chicken Little's claim, Foxy Loxy told the collection of farm birds to come to his den for safety. Traditionally, the story ends with Foxy Loxy eating everyone; however, later versions have the birds escape, with Chicken Little discovering that it had only been an acorn.
