Comrade Monke is a fictional character, although he debuted in the Open Source Superheroes Wiki, his first appearance in a piece of published fiction is in the flash fiction story From the motherland, with love! A soviet-russian agent and spy with the ability to travel through time, he has faced various foes, such as the Spy Smasher, Tony Camonte, and Captain Nazi.

Conception[]

Comrade Monke went through many phases and versions before ending up as a soviet time-travelling spy, including one where he is an emperor of a multiversal empire and one where he is warlord on a planet called Selene. Various inspirations exist for Monke, including Kang the Conqueror, Cable, Emperor Palpatine, the David Niven and Sean Connery iterations of James Bond, the Max Von Sydow and Telly Savalas iterations of Ernst Stavro Blofeld, FPS heroes like Duke Nukem and Doomguy, and more. However, the main inspirations that have influenced Comrade Monke's character the most when he appears in pieces of fiction are David Niven's Bond and Max Von Sydow's Blofeld. Monke was created by greek writer and graphic artist Konstantinos Petrou Kefalas and designed by a person with the pseudoname "Brain", Thales Kruger Rizzotto, and Kefalas.

Birth[]

Comrade Monke is a fictional character who exists in the same universe as many other characters such as superheroes from Golden Age comics. He is a time traveling spy and warrior that sometimes operates on behalf of the USSR or some other entity. He is an anti-hero, and occasionally a supervillain.

During the rule of Joseph Stalin, Ilya Ivanov was tasked with creating a monkey superwarrior, and conducted various experiments on both humans and monkeys. Only one of these was successful, giving birth to Comrade Monke. Monke was also given a time travel device that had been discovered by the USSR, that allowed him to travel across timelines, eras and universes.

Description[]

Comrade Monke is an anthropomorphic black crested macaque. He wears a long coat witn red stars on his shoulders and a cross on the left side to symbolize his Christian Roman Catholic[1] faith. Underneath the coat is a bulletproof armor. He wears green pants and boots.

Other than working for the USSR, he is involved in many other affairs and activities, including illegal ones. He is also the leader of SMERSH, a soviet global organization with members from many universes and time periods.[2] He is also the leader of the Monkey Corps.

Personality[]

Monke is a brave, skilled, unstoppable spy and warrior. He is a Christian, and fears no one except God. When he has a goal, he will stop at nothing to achieve it. He is also a fanatic communist and loyal to the USSR. He is regurarly in conflict with superheroes and even villains. Despite his ways, he still shows sympathy for the weak, and even shows love and mercy to his enemies.
