Count Dracula is the titular antagonist of Dracula (1897) by Bram Stoker. He is a being of pure evil, as well as one of the most famous vampires that exist in human culture today. Background[]

Count Dracula is a fictional character who first appeared in Dracula (1897). It is commonly believed that Bram Stoker took inspiration from Vlad the Impaler when crafting the character, which is most likely not true. Based on what we know today, it is likely that Count Dracula was created before Bram Stoker even knew who Vlad the Impaler was, only taking the last name Dracula because it sounded cool. We know this because Dracula's original name was going to be Count Wampyr.

Biography[]

Dracula is described in the novel as a tall old man who wears all black and has a mustache. He is first encountered in the novel when Jonathon Harker knocks on his castle door. He lets Mr. Harker into his castle, as he had been expecting him due to Dracula wanting to buy a property in England. Dracula feeds Mr. Harker, but doesn't eat himself and Jonathon Harker can't help but find that odd. Despite this, the two of them talk for a while. Dracula then reveals that the reason he asked Jonathon Harker to arrive in person at his castle is so that Dracula can be educated about England, as he has quite the interest in it.
