King Kong is a giant ape monster, first appearing in the eponymous 1932 novel King Kong. He was found on Skull Mountain Island by Denham's film crew, and became obsessed with actress Ann Darrow before being transported to New York to be put on display as the “Eighth Wonder of the World”. Kong was able to escape containment and rampaged through the city, soon grabbing Ann and scaling the Empire State Building, ultimately falling to his death after being attacked by planes.
