Origin[]
The Magdeburg Unicorn is an incorrect skeletal reconstruction of multiple fossils which were found in Germany in 1663, infamous for being considered one of the worst fossil reconstructions ever made.
A mounted skeleton of the two-legged unicorn is displayed at Magdeburg's Natural History Museum. The skeleton consists of bones from various different animals, with the horn of a narwhal, skull of a woolly rhinoceros and legs of a mammoth.
Notes[]
- The unicorn reconstruction was created in the 18th century, placing it in the public domain due to being published before 1929.
