Thistledown was built in 1903 by Aveling & Porter. It was owned by the late Teddy Boston and formerly on view at The Old Rectory, Cadeby, Leics.
Thistledown is painted dark green with brass and red boiler bands and a brass chimney cap.

Thistledown was the inspiration for George, a fictional character created by the Rev. W. Awdry for The Railway Series. The late Rev. Teddy Boston also owned a steamroller named Satan.
